Handicrafts and Women Empowerment
- Ongoing support for women and children, midwives, teachers and master craftswomen
We are always seeking to support the most vulnerable groups, and we also seek to combat violence against women and children by providing guidance and knowledge to reinforce their possibilities and rights in various possible scenarios - Support for local crafts, entrepreneurship and female empowerment
Whenever possible, the Instituto Flor da Floresta makes donations of beads, knitting threads and other materials that serve as input for Huni Kuin women’s crafts, in addition to facilitating sales - Encouragement for the occupation of important positions for communities such as shamans and indigenous health agents
We reaffirm our encouragement for women to occupy prominent positions, which are traditionally held by men, but have consistently been sought by women who want to occupy these positions and who have the knowledge and wisdom to do so - Fight for better living conditions and health
We fight for the improvement of women’s living conditions and health, through the guarantee of reproductive rights and the improvement of their access to water and citizenship resources, which have been historically denied to these women - Participation in the Annual Women’s Meeting of the Huni Kuin Women’s Association of Jordão – Ainbu Daya: 2023 and 2024
Since 2023, when the Ainbu Daya Association was founded, the Flor da Floresta Institute has been present at the event that takes place annually, providing information and knowledge about health and rights, in addition to carrying out in-depth exchanges and sharing with women from more than 30 villages in Rio Jordão and Tarauacá. - Facilitation of a meeting that brought together female entrepreneurship and Huni Kuin women’s crafts, at Aldeia Nova Empresa in 2024
During 3 days of immersion in the forest the event brought together notions of entrepreneurship, culture and traditional Huni Kuin crafts. The meeting goal was to create an atmosphere where a team responsible for a Brazilian renowned brand could learn about the art of Huni Kuin women so they could develop all together a project that would combine fashion and ancestral wisdom.

We are always seeking to hear what women want and desire to improve their quality of life so that we can work to seek assistance to make these goals possible.
We believe that working together with women, listening to them and fighting for their rights is one of the most important key points of our Institute.
